The Holy Spirit, Grief, and God’s Promise to Stay

May 10, 2026    Nate Preisinger

Fear has a way of convincing us that one mistake, one failure, one loss, or one painful season gets to tell the whole story. In this sermon, we hear Jesus’ promise from John 14: “I will not leave you orphaned.” Christ meets us in the places where we feel most alone, and through the Holy Spirit, reminds us that grief, shame, fear, and despair do not get the final word.

What You’ll Learn:

Why we often let one painful moment define the whole story

What Jesus means when he says, “I will not leave you orphaned”

How the Holy Spirit brings Christ’s promise back into view

Why grief and hope can exist in the same life

How God’s larger story holds us, even when our own story feels heavy

Scripture Readings

Acts 17:22–31

John 14:15–21
