The Promise Still Begins Again | Sermon on Micah 5:2–5a
Dec 21, 2025 • Gary Sandberg
In this Advent sermon rooted in Micah 5:2–5a, we hear a promise spoken to people who believed they were living at the end of everything. Exiled, powerless, and holding on by a thread, God’s people are reminded that God’s story does not end in collapse—but begins again in unexpected places.
Through the prophet Micah, God announces a different kind of glory: not power rooted in domination, but peace born in humility; not a warrior king, but a shepherd who gathers a community; not a throne, but a child born in Bethlehem.
This message invites us to reflect on where peace still needs to enter our lives, how authority can look more like care than control, and how God’s ancient promises remain alive—still unfolding through us today.
