A Thousand Years is like a Day

A thousand years is like a day.

The time expanse in scripture can be challenging to comprehend. We know that the stories of scripture happen in a historical context, but the time frame can seem quite compressed when we read through the history without taking time to consider the gaps in time.

The prophets whose prophecy connects with our understanding of Jesus generally spoke 500 years prior to Jesus’ birth. Reading the Bible does not always reveal that expanse of time. The prophets often bridged the promises made to King David 500 years prior to their prophecy. In total - 1000 years of history between promise and fulfillment.

What is a thousand years actually like? I really have no idea. But I am so glad that God does.
Peace,
Pastor Gary
