Creator God, I pray for the earth...

Creator God, I pray for the earth…
All throughout Lent Pastor Nate will be sharing reflections on ways to start a conversation with God. These short prayer prompts provide you with a way to begin your prayers on a variety of topics. Today, we think about the needs of the earth.
The very first thing that we confess when we state the Apostles’ Creed together each Sunday is that we believe in an Almighty God who created heaven and earth. Clearly, seeing God as the Creator of all that we see lives at the very heart of our Christian faith. But have you ever stopped to think about the implications of this belief?
If God really is the Creator of heaven and earth than it seems essential that Christians would see all of creation as being inherently worthy of our respect and love and care. If God created the earth, then taking care of the earth strikes me as a vital way to show respect to God.
I really think that things like cleaning up trash, recycling, and reducing our waste are acts of worship, where we honor the one who created the earth by caring for the earth.
Today, talk with God about the needs of the earth and how you might honor God by caring for the earth.
