Holy Spirit, Help me Understand

Holy Spirit, help me understand…
All throughout Lent Pastor Nate will be sharing reflections on ways to start a conversation with God. These short prayer prompts provide you with a way to begin your prayers on a variety of topics. Today, we reflect on the role of the Holy Spirit in guiding our understanding.
The Holy Spirit is typically the overlooked person in the Holy Trinity. We spend lots of time talking about Jesus and God the Creator while the Holy Spirit gets pushed to the side. It is through the Spirit that we are drawn to faith so that we may experience God's grace in every moment. The Holy Spirit comforts us, teaches us Christ's truth, and guides us steadily through both our joys and our trials.
And so, when we find ourselves in moments of confusion or doubt we shouldn’t see those as times of God’s absence but rather as moments of opportunity to grow in our connection with the Holy Spirit.
Think of it this way: a disagreement with a close friend can cause you to end the relationship, but it can just as easily lead you into a deeper place of connection. In the same way, moments of doubt can sometimes lead people away from the faith, but what if, instead, we brought those questions to God and through conversation with God allowed those questions to lead us into a deeper relationship?
I’m not saying that God will quickly and solve all our questions, but through the Holy Spirit I do believe we can be comforted and guided into a deeper relationship with God, doubts and all.
Today, talk with the Holy Spirit about your questions and doubts.
