Jesus Christ, Forgive Me For

Jesus Christ, forgive me for…

All throughout Lent Pastor Nate will be sharing reflections on ways to start a conversation with God. These short prayer prompts provide you with a way to begin your prayers on a variety of topics. Today, we reflect on the importance of confession and forgiveness.

The gift of forgiveness really is something incredible that took often gets overlooked. Too often it seems almost perfunctory. We start worship on Sunday by confessing our sin and then we hear that we are forgiven and we get on with our week.

But think of how dramatic; how important this practice of Confession and Forgiveness really is.

In our world of social media and “keeping up with the Jones’” there is very little space to ever admit when you’re struggling or made a mistake. As a result, we often try to cover up our shortcomings but this almost always leads us to believe that we are the ones with all the problems and everyone else has life all figured out.

In reality, we all mess up. As the scripture says, “All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23). While it can be difficult to face our own sinfulness, there is something so important about having the chance to admit that we, just like everyone else, don’t have it all figured out.

Today, embrace the gift not only of forgiveness but the gift of confession as well.

Jesus Christ, forgive me for…
