Holy Jesus, we pray for your church

Holy Jesus, we pray for your Church…
All throughout Lent, Pastor Nate will be sharing reflections on ways to start a conversation with God. These short prayer prompts provide you with a way to begin your prayers on a variety of topics. Today, we lift up the Church in prayer.
The Church is a strange and beautiful thing. It is both a sacred body and a messy gathering of imperfect people. It is a place where we experience the love of Christ, and yet, at times, a place where we can be hurt or disappointed. It is full of grace and full of flaws because it is made up of people like you and me.
And yet, Jesus calls the Church His own. He calls it His body (1 Corinthians 12:27), His bride (Ephesians 5:25), and the very community through which God’s love is made known in the world. That means, despite its struggles, the Church still matters.
When we pray for the Church, we are praying for the people who gather each week in worship, for the leaders who guide and serve, for the communities that need to experience Christ’s love. We pray for healing where there is division, for wisdom where there is uncertainty, and for courage to live out the Gospel with boldness and humility.
Today, bring the Church before God in prayer. Ask for renewal, for unity, and for a deepening of faith. Pray for your own congregation and for the Church around the world.
