Preserving Lord, save me from

Preserving Lord, save me from…
All throughout Lent, Pastor Nate will be sharing reflections on ways to start a conversation with God. These short prayer prompts provide you with a way to begin your prayers on a variety of topics. Today, we reflect on the ways we need God’s protection and deliverance.
Life is full of things that threaten to pull us away from the person God is calling us to be. Sometimes, it’s external struggles—temptations, hardships, or voices that tell us we aren’t enough. Other times, the danger comes from within—fear, bitterness, pride, or the lies we tell ourselves. Whatever the source, we all have moments where we need to cry out, “Lord, save me.”
I think of Peter stepping out onto the water to meet Jesus. At first, he walks in faith, but then the wind and waves shake his confidence, and he begins to sink. In his fear, he calls out, “Lord, save me!”—and immediately, Jesus reaches out His hand (Matthew 14:30-31). What a powerful reminder that when we call on God in our distress, even when we are lacking in our faith, God does not hesitate to respond.
We do not have to fight our battles alone. Whatever threatens to overwhelm you, whether that is worry, sin, exhaustion, and even doubt, remember that God is near and God is ready to preserve and sustain you.
Today, talk with God about what is weighing you down. Ask for the strength to resist what harms you and the grace to trust in God’s saving love.
