Awesome God, I am amazed and thankful for…
All throughout Lent, Pastor Nate will be sharing reflections on ways to start a conversation with God. These short prayer prompts provide you with a way to begin your prayers on a variety of topics. Today, we reflect on awe and gratitude.
It is so easy to rush through life without stopping to notice the wonder of it all. We get caught up in our routines, our worries, our to-do lists, and before we know it, we’ve missed the beauty unfolding right in front of us. But every once in a while, something stops us in our tracks—a breathtaking view of the mountains, an unexpected kindness from a friend, the laughter and joy of a child. These small moments have a way of reminding us that life itself is a gift.
In the 19th Psalm, we read these words: “The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands” (Psalm 19:1). God’s fingerprints are all over creation, from the grandeur of the universe to the smallest act of love between people and when we take time to notice, we can’t help but stand in awe.
Gratitude has a way of shifting our hearts. Instead of focusing on what we lack, it draws our attention to what we have. Instead of dwelling on frustration, it reminds us of God’s goodness. Even in hard times, there are signs of God’s presence—moments of grace, glimpses of hope, reasons to give thanks.
Today, take a moment to pause and reflect. What has amazed you lately? What has filled your heart with gratitude? Talk with God about these things and give thanks.
