In May 2024, Vicky Daub was elected at the RMS Synod Assembly to serve as a Lay delegate at the National Assembly of the ELCA in Phoenix, Arizona this week. Vicky will be sharing devotional reflections from her time at the assembly.
Psalm 100:1 “Make a joyful noise unto the Lord.”
We had two Plenary Sessions at the ELCA Assembly in Phoenix today. At each of these business meetings, we took time to ground ourselves with familiar hymns.
What a blessing to hear more than 800 voices harmonizing on hymns I have loved my whole life! I was impressed with how the Assembly organizers could sense when we needed a “music break” after a prolonged period of serious, important discussions.
I also enjoyed the gift of talking with others as we shared lunch together. What a joy to meet folks from all over the country, hearing about the churches and communities they serve. I even talked with Dr. Robin Steinke today. She is the President of Luther Seminary. I graduated from Luther in 2019. She was eager to hear how I am using my degree in Christian Ministry in the “real world”.
