This We Believe - Incarnation 3

Incarnation 3
The life of faith encompasses several events and moments that we journey through multiple times during the course of a lifetime.  The devotion below is part of an ongoing series that explores these central themes of Christian doctrine.

“He who was born at Bethlehem is God, and “God with us.” God—there lies the majesty; “God with us,” there lies the mercy. God—therein is glory; “God with us,” therein is grace. God alone might well strike us with terror; but “God with us” inspires us with hope and confidence.”  – Charles Spurgeon

Christmas is the holiday where we celebrate the birth of Jesus, also known as the incarnation.  God becoming a human being in the person of Jesus carries with it a simple and yet profound message for us today: God is with us.  In all the joy and ugliness of life, God is here.

We intentionally gather with family and friends at Christmas and it’s beautiful to recognize that as we prioritize being with the ones we love, the holiday itself proclaims the message that God willingly chooses to be with the one’s God loves.
