Epiphany is a season of light and a time when God’s presence is revealed in unexpected places. Every Wednesday and Friday during the Epiphany season, we will be sharing a devotional reflection that invites us to follow Christ as our Rising Star, pausing to reflect on how his light continues to guide our faith and shape our lives.
TODAY: Stars are used for guidance. Jesus guides us.
For thousands of years, people have relied on stars for guidance and direction. Celestials Navigation is the act of using stars and planets for determining one’s path or course.
For us as Christians, Jesus serves a similar purpose. His words, teachings, and actions provide our lives with direction and guidance and keep us on a path towards abundant life.
Psalm 23
The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want.
2 He makes me lie down in green pastures; he leads me beside still waters;
3 he restores my soul. He leads me in right paths for his name’s sake.
4 Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I fear no evil; for you are with me;
your rod and your staff— they comfort me.
5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil;
my cup overflows.
6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord my whole life long.
Psalm 23 is often used at funerals, but what do these words reveal to you about how God guides your life today?
Take time today to talk with Jesus about where he might be leading you next.
PRAYER
Thank you Jesus, for your guiding us, and forgiving us when we stray. AMEN.
