Epiphany Rising Stars - Seasons

Epiphany is a season of light and a time when God’s presence is revealed in unexpected places. Every Wednesday and Friday during the Epiphany season, we will be sharing a devotional reflection that invites us to follow Christ as our Rising Star, pausing to reflect on how his light continues to guide our faith and shape our lives.

TODAY: Stars are used to mark the passing of seasons.  The seasons of the church invite us to mark time in counter-cultural ways.

Astronomers have used the movements of the different celestial bodies to create calendars and mark the passing of time.  In the same way, the Liturgical Calendar of the Church invites us to mark the passing of the year in intentional and unique ways; ways that are explicitly different than the narratives elsewhere in our society.  Above all else, the Liturgical Calendar invites us to see the presence of God in every moment of the year.

For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven. - Ecclesiastes 3:1

Consider the different seasons of the year.  What does each season of the year reveal about God’s character?  How can the different seasons help us to more fully know God?

PRAYER
Thank you God for the gift of each day and the gift of each season.  May these blessings reveal to us a greater understanding of your love and grace. AMEN.
