Epiphanies For Epiphany - Creation

We find ourselves in the season of Epiphany, a time of discovery and insight.  Throughout this liturgical season we are invited to allow the light of Christ to illumine our hearts and minds as we grow in faith and come to know Jesus more personally.  These devotionals looks at six different “epiphanies” from my personal journey of faith. Through scripture, quotes, and our life of worship, we will explore each "epiphany" from a number of different angles.

I never gave much thought to the importance of believing in God as the Creator of everything. I realized that to say God is the Creator of Heaven and Earth means that all of creation is important, beautiful, and sacred because it was made by God. As such, simple acts like recycling, planting trees, or gardening could be viewed as spiritual practices that are deeply connected to the character of God. ⠀

What do we mean by 'Creation'?
Often times a sunset or walk in the woods or mountain top view will remind me of the immeasurable beauty of this world. In these moments, I'm reminded of this quote from Vigen Guroian, "In a real sense, creation is this: It is the will, the love, the imagination of God taking on existence and form."

Where do we see the Law and Gospel in Worship?
"with earth and sea and all their creatures, and with angels and archangels, cherubim and seraphim, we praise your name and join their unending hymn." On some Sundays the Pastor will chant these words as part of the communion liturgy. The idea is that when we gather for Holy Communion we rejoice with ALL OF CREATION (and with angels too!) praising God for the blessing of our salvation.
