Faith into Practice: Rest Day 2

This post is part of a series exploring Christian spiritual practices. Each week we are focusing on one practice that helps us live out our faith in real, daily ways. These short reflections are meant to give simple, practical steps for drawing closer to God and experiencing His presence in ordinary life.

Day 2 - We are commanded by God to rest at least once every 7 days.  Just as God created the world and then rested on the 7th day, we too should live our lives within this rhythm of work AND rest.

Scripture: "Remember the Sabbath Day, and keep it holy. Six days you shall labor and do all your work. But the seventh day is a Sabbath to the Lord your God; you shall not do any work... For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them, but rested the seventh day; therefore the Lord blessed the sabbath day and consecrated it." - Exodus 20:8-11

The Practice Explained:  Make a plan to take a Sabbath this week.  Work ahead and shift your schedule so that you can take 24 straight hours of rest.  On the day of your Sabbath, move slowly, take your time, and simply enjoy the blessings God has placed in your life.
