Scripture Affirmation - Ephesians 3:20

“God is able to accomplish abundantly far more than all we can ask or imagine.” — Ephesians 3:20

Sometimes I wonder if our vision is just too small.

We spend so much of our energy trying to manage life by setting realistic SMART goals, and then systematically working towards those goals. But I'm confident that God is not limited by our plans.  And I think that verses like Ephesians 3:20 are God's way of reminding us that all our well-laid plans are not the end-all-be-all.

This verse doesn’t call us to work harder or believe harder; it calls us to trust deeper.  Not only that, but these words from Ephesians remind us that striving to make big things happen isn't what life is all about.  More importantly, it's not all up to us.

So maybe faith, at its simplest, is learning to say:
“Lord, surprise me again.”
