Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;
In all your ways submit to God, and God will make your paths straight. - Proverbs 3:5-6
When we have a difficult decision to make, some people will tell us to follow our heart, or to trust our heart. In either case we are the ones who have ultimate control. In Proverbs we are told to trust in the Lord. When our hearts are turned to God we trust that God will guide us. Submission to God is no easy task. It does not take our hearts out of the equation, it just has us put it in a different place. This does not mean that any decision made after submitting our heart to God will make life easy. It will just make it straight. Some times, that is enough.
God of presence, take our hearts, freely given, and guide us in your wisdom.
